Temple's in Goa
. A Goan temple is known as a dēvūḷ (देवूळ) or sansthān (संस्थान) in the Konkani language.These temples were once the centres of villages, cities, and all the other social, cultural and economic gatherings in Goa. These were known as grāmasansthās (ग्रामसंस्था) in Konkani.
1.MANGESHI TEMPLE

1560, when theportuguese started Christia conversions in mormugao taluka, the Saraswats of Kaundinya Gotra and Vatsa Gotra moved the Mangesh Linga from the original site at the Kushasthali or Cortalim on the banks of river Aghanashini (Zuari)(Sancoale) to its present location at Mangeshi in Priol village of Atrunja Taluka, which was then ruled by the Hindu kings of Sonde of Antruz Mahal (Ponda), to be more secure.the temple has been rebuilt and renovated twice during the reign of the Marathas and again in the year 1890.
2.MAHALAXMI TEMPLE

The Shri Mahalaxmi temple is situated at Bandora which is 4kms. from Ponda. Shri Mahalaxmi is the presiding deity and it is considered the abode of originalGoddess of the Shakti cult. Hindus describes Mahalaxmi is a form of Mother of all Universes, who raised three super powers Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. She is worshipped from many ages and by the 8th century many of their ancestor Hindu leaders adopted her.The actual main temple of Mahalaxmi is situated in Kolhapur one of Maharashtra's state which is nearly 150 km away from Goa to the north.
3.SHANTADURGA TEMPLE

Shri Shantadurga Temple is a Private temple complex belonging to Goud Saraswat Brahmin community(Saraswat Temple) and Daivajna pwat Brahmin families.This current temple structure of Shree Shantadurga Devasthan was built during the period from 1713 AD to 1738 AD by Naroram Rege mantri
4.BHAGWATI TEMPLE
The temple of Sri Bhagwati is quite unique and is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati who is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. The Shri Bhagwati temple is an ancient temple in Goa. It is said to be more than 500 years old and is situated by the side of the main road.The main festival celebrated at this temple is Dussehra. The festival is one of the main attractions here and is celebrated with gaiety from Ashwin Shuddha Pratipada to Poornima. At that time more than twenty five thousand devotees assemble at the temple.
